2025.09.13 Portable Day
The Central Coast Amateur Radio Club held another one of our portable days on Saturday the 13th of September at Kariong Gardens park. After a quick recharge of coffee and cake in the cafe we gathered in the shade next to the sports field.
Portable stations were all set up on battery power using both wire and vertical antennas on bands from 7 MHZ through UHF. It was interesting to check out the different set-ups. Contacts were made and a great time was had by all.
The intended kite antenna experiment didn’t eventuate due to a lack of wind.
An “experimental Hi Hi” 2.4 GHZ “1200 watt” station was whipped together from an old microwave oven and microphone but no contacts were made. Got a few laughs out of that one.
All told the outing was very enjoyable in the perfect spring weather.
