2025.09.27 Show & Tell
The club held a very well attended monthly show and tell. Items shown and discussed included vintage CB radios and linear power supplies, WW2 morse keys, a monster stud mounted SCR, and a home-brew magnetic loop antenna.
One highlight was a kerbside treasure a member found that turned out to be a fully functional PC built into a screen. Very nice display and ergonomics. It triggered much discussion about planned obsolescence, particularly with the introduction of Windows 11 and what your alternatives were.
A new feature of the event was some videos. We watched a very interesting video on World War 2 German direction finding equipment and it’s use, followed by a discussion on the theory of operation.
Next up was a video was on how to make reproduction knobs when restoring old radios; and the final video was on the steps you need to take to ensure retention your callsign following the introduction of the class license.
