1. CCARC to operate VI103WIA NEXT WEEKEND.
(Publicity release) – “To celebrate 103 years of the Wireless Institute of Australia (the world’s oldest national amateur radio society), the Central Coast ARC in New South Wales, Australia have been given the privilege along with several other VK clubs and individuals to operate under this special call sign. The call sign will be active to cover the period of the annual conference of the WIA which occurs this year in Fremantle, West Australia.”
“The CCARC, one of the oldest Amateur Radio clubs in New South Wales, will operate the VI103WIA special event call sign on the afternoon (local time) of Saturday May 25th.”
“Full details of this call sign and it’s usage schedule can be found at: http://conference.vk6.net/vi103wia “
“The CCARC will be operational on bands from 80m to 70cm mostly using phone modes (SSB/FM). Special QSL cards will be issued by the WIA.”
This is an important event and as far as I know the first time our club has had such an opportunity.
Activation will be from the VK2AFY club station in Kariong from noon on the 25th. May.
Come and help with operating or log keeping – or simply provide the operators with encouragement or the occasional coffee, tea or cold drink.
This is your opportunity to experience a “pile-up” from the inside! Everyone will want to work the station running the special call sign!
Doug VK2MDC has kindly agreed to run the event please contact Doug with your offers of support.

2. Where on earth is our club President?
It seems that Chris VK2YY has gone to some small radio show in the colonies that is on this weekend;
The CCARC wish you an enjoyable visit to Dayton and a safe trip home Chris!
Ed VK2JI.
3. Project and development group – next project?
The Project group, who meet each Friday evening at the club rooms except if a club lecture is scheduled, are deciding what to build as their next project. Over the last few months members of the group have built 80, 40 & 20m QRP transceivers, High power linear amplifiers and remote SWR heads.
Following on from the QRP theme two members will be building miniature ATU units and there is discussion over Digital (DAB) radio and TV/70cm antenna projects.
There is room for more ideas though and no reason that multiple projects cannot run at the same time. All members of the CCARC are welcome to come along to the Friday Night project team meetings (as are of course, visitors).
So why not come along to a meeting and see what is going on and see if you can help someone or get help from someone for that radio problem you’ve been trying to solve for months.
If you can’t drive to the club rooms in the evening, please contact Sam VK2ZZ to see if he can arrange a mini-meeting on a Saturday. with a few of the regular group members.
Ed VK2JI.
4. Broke & fixed.
No items for Broke & Fixed this week – all CCARC infrastructure is operational.
