  2. AX Call sign prefix this Sunday.
  3. STOP PRESS: Changes to D-Star VK2RAG infrastructure.
  4. Broke & fixed.
  5. Reminders.

1. One month to go!

That’s right there’s just one month, four weeks or 30 days to go until the CCARC Field Day at Wyong!

Have you got your job assigned yet?

Have you completed any actions asked of you at the last organising meeting?

Are you ready to make this Field Day THE BEST EVER ?

Ed VK2JI.

2. AX Call sign prefix this Sunday.

As this Sunday is Australia Day, we are all allowed to exchange the VK at the start of our call signs with AX to celebrate the day. So my call of VK2JI can be changed to AX2JI if I chose. This is true of all classes of licence Foundation, Standard or Advanced.

Ed VK2JI.

3. STOP PRESS: Changes to D-Star VK2RAG infrastructure.

This, just in from Ian:

I have updated the Dstar Gateway computer at Somersby and now running it on a mini ITX motherboard and a solid state hard drive powered from 12V. So now both routers, the modem and the control PC are all running from the battery bank. At the same time I registered VK2RAG on the D-Star ircDDB network and this will run in parallel to the existing ICOM gateway software and will allow access to users to the non-ICOM systems around the world (that is actually more than 50%). I have installed the software and VK2RAG shows up in the registration page as being active but I still need to test this software and should have results over the weekend. I will place some instructions onto the D-Star web page so users will able to know how to use it.

Ian VK2HK.

4. Broke & fixed.

Nothing to report this week, everything running smoothly.

5. Reminders.

If no one comes forward to take over the publicity officer role by the Field Day, CCARC NEWS and items about the club on the weekly news broadcasts will stop from the start of March.
