The CCARC held an event on Saturday the 15th at Terrigal Haven combining Radio and a picnic.

The event was designed to ramp things up after all of us had been cooped up due to the Covid lockdowns.

Invitations were issued and about 20 hams from CCARC and HADARC made the most of a perfect spring day and the seaside location.

Contacts were made on 40, 20 and 10 Meters. 10 meters was open around the middle of the day with openings into Mexico, USA and Japan.

40 meters was ever reliable but 20 meters didn’t open into Europe till after we left for the day. This was a pity as we planned to try to make contact with former CCARC local Ed who now resides in Germany as DD5LP but we didn’t get to talk.

The picnic shelters, tables and benches were well used and grew quite a collection of antennas which attracted the attention of passersby. The club banner and information handouts helped with publicity.

The event was quite social with those present mixing with each other and discussing the various setups with lots of ideas exchanged.
All told those who attended said it was good fun and we look forward to future events.

Thanks to all who helped make the day a success.
