International Lighthouse & Lightships Weekend 2012 – CCARC
CCARC will be entering the ILLW event on Saturday the 18th. & Sunday the 19th. of August once again from Nobbys Head Lighthouse in Newcastle. The difference to last year is that we have access to and the use of a cottage at the lighthouse instead of having to suffer the weather conditions below the lighthouse (as the lighthouse area was still being made safe for the public to visit).
The cottage we have is watertight and has power, but that’s all. As this will be an overnight exercise we will need to take our own tables, chairs, beds etc. There is a non-public accessible area behind the cottage where we can safely erect a small HF vertical antenna. There are several rooms available in the cottage so that we can use one for the radio shack another for setting up displays for the public, who will be coming through on the Sunday, one or two that can be used for sleeping in and a conservatory to eat in.
Please note ILLW does not clash with Shahzada which is a week later this year, so please put a note in your diaries and let me know (Ed, VK2ARE via email – VK2ARE at WIA dot ORG dot AU) if you are able to support this club event. We will besetting up from 9am on the Saturday (to be ready for the world-wide 11am start) and taking down on the Sunday around 3pm to be off-site by 4pm. Note the car parking is 800 metres away and only two cars will be allowed access to deliver (or ferry) equipment at the start and the end of the event so be prepared for a long, steep walk.
