John Moyle Memorial Field Day 2022
John Moyle Memorial Field Day 2022 – did you enter? Were you operating home or portable?
Here we have Brad VK2NMZ and Luke VK2HMI operating a portable station from VKFF-0550 at Crackneck Lookout.
It was great time operating and comparing the performance characteristics of different antenna configurations and getting a few contacts in of course!
But! What made the day? The curiosity of the members of the public who were genuinely interested in what they were doing, how long distance communications work and how clear some of the stations were coming in.
Brad and Luke took the time to explain at a high level how their individual stations operated and was met with amazement.
They also provided entertainment to the younger crowd with a quick showcase on ARDF hunting utilising a transmitter, 2 meter hand held Yagi and sniffer.
There were definitely some keen hunters out there who were hot on the tail of the fox and found it within a few minutes with very little input or help.
What a great day and kudos to Brad and Luke for showing how fun AR can be!
