The club wishes to announce the Central Coast Amateur Radio Club “Mayham” event will be held on Sunday the 30th of May 2021 at Wyong Race Course as well as both a Pedestrian and mobile fox hunt on Saturday the 29th of May. For the patrons who have attended the Wyong Field Day for many years, It’s the same event, but with a fresh date and new name. For those are looking to attend, be a trader or exhibitor, please email the team at mayham@ccarc.org.au.
The website has recently been updated with a list of traders, exhibitors. For more information regarding this event, please check out the Mayham website at www.mayham.org.au as well as updates in future VK2WI bulletins.
The Club’s next foundation, training and assessment weekend will be on Saturday the 29th of May at the clubrooms with examinations following on Sunday the 30th May at Wyong Race Course, coinciding with the Mayham event. If you are interested in obtaining your licence or upgrading your existing licence, please reach out to the club’s education facilitator Karen VK2AKB at education@ccarc.org.au
The Club is making a change to repeater operations at VK2RAG, to conserve power coming into the winter months. Between the hours of 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM EST The only repeater services that will be available is the 2 Meter 146.725 MHz and the 2 meter and 70cm WICEN repeaters. the repeater committee will revisit again in the future to review these changes
And speaking of WICEN, some Central Coast WICEN members are currently assisting in communications for the large Watagan Mountains Endurance Ride event this weekend. Thank you to the members who were able to assist.
This week the Club’s Thursday evening net this week was hosted by Alan VK2MG with a discussion about Contesting and do you enjoy it? Some stations spoke about enjoying the chase of rare stations and others were just starting to get into it. Thank you, Alan, for running the net.
Adrian VK2ABS will be hosting another Slow Scan Television net on Friday the 23rd of April at 7:30 PM. This fortnight’s theme will be Portable Operations, so will be a great opportunity to put a new series of images together.

Bob VK2AOR and Dave VK2KFU continue with the clubs Morning Tea net every day. Whilst some check ins are starting to lighten up with many returning back to their workplace, the boys still continue to push through. A huge thanks go out to Bob and Dave for running these nets, it sure brightens up everyone’s day. Did you know the net has been running for over 12 months now? What a stellar effort!
Both nets are held on the VK2RAG 2 Metre repeater, 146.725Mhz with a 91.5hz sub audible tone and available via Echolink using CCARCNSW conference server or IRLP node 9509.
The club looking for more operators to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the RAAF. This is a great opportunity to get out on the bands and share in celebrating this momentous occasion portable or otherwise. If club members are interested in participating, please reach out to the club directly.
