NEWS 23.01.2022
The club club rooms are closed until February 5 due to the rapid onset of the omicron variant of Covid-19. This
strain spreads easily and can be caught by vaccinated people. This decision has been taken reluctantly but the
increased risk of transmission makes it a prudent step in the public interest. Month-end exams have likewise been
cancelled.
The club passes its sincere condolences to Don Crutcher VK2ZCZ on the passing of his XYL Dot this week.
Planning is well under way for Mayham, which is scheduled for the first of May, 2022.
At the VK2RAG Somersby repeater site, the D-Star, Rad-Net DMR and 2m Echolink services are fully
functional. Brand Meister DMR and 70cm Echolink and IRLP are still having problems.
The club has a Web SDR at Somersby. Websdr.ccarc.org.au is currently configured to listen on 6 metres, 2
metres, 70 centimetres and 23 centimetres.
The daily morning tea net is back at 10:00 each morning and after the broadcast on Sundays. On the VK2RAG
repeater – 146.725 MHz with 91.5Hz tone, and on echolink through the HAM and CCARC echolink conferences.
Welcome back to Bob VK2AOR.
Alan VK2MG ran the weekly Thursday night net this week and all had a good catch up. The net is held at 8pm on
the clubs VK2RAG repeater – 146.725 MHz with 91.5Hz tone, and on echolink through the HAM and CCARC
echolink conferences.
The fortnightly SSTV net, hosted by Adrian VK2ABS, returned last Friday night on the club’s WICEN repeater
– 147.125 MHz with a 91.5 Hz tone. All welcome to watch or participate.
Both of these nets are also video streamed live to the club’s Facebook page and recordings can be found in the
“Videos” section.
You can find out more about the CCARC on the web at www.ccarc.org.au, by phone on 02 4340 2500, or on
social media by searching for “Central Coast Amateur Radio Club”. Remember to give the club a “like” to follow
for any updates.
