This Field Day is the largest Amateur Radio event in Australia each year “Australian Amateurs big day out” and attracts vendors and visitors from the width and breadth of Australia.
Wyong Field day 2013 saw the first ever “Mini Contest University” (education specific to the contests part of our great hobby). This was the first time such an event has been run in Australia and we were lucky to be able to engage Trent Sampson – WIA Contests Director as keynote speaker. The theme was an introduction to contesting. The event ran on the Saturday so as not to clash with all the other activities already planned for the Sunday and went very well despite very bad weather conditions and plans are already being formulated for next years “MCU” which will cover different topics and may be accompanied by other events on the saturday, making this truly a “Wyong Weekend”.
