The club wishes to announce the Central Coast Amateur Radio Club “Mayham” event will be held on Sunday the 30th of May 2021 at Wyong Race Course. For the patrons who have attended the Wyong Field Day for many years, It’s the same event, but with a fresh date and new name. For those are looking to attend, be a trader or exhibitor, please email the team at mayham@ccarc.org.au .

The Clubs Newsletter Smoke Signals was recently delivered to club members E-mail inboxes earlier this week. Thanks to Henrick VK2FTDR for taking on the role and the club encourages all members to give it a read each month and provide feedback to the club. Henrick is also on the prowl for content, big or small, even just a few sentences and a photo.

The Clubs Monthly general business meeting will be held next week on Saturday the 6th of march in the clubrooms at 13:00. This meeting will also be available online via google meet and details will be distributed shortly.

The club will be holding education, training and examination sessions on the 27th and 28th of March. If you are interested in obtaining your licence or upgrading your existing licence, please reach out to the club’s education facilitator Karen VK2AKB at education@ccarc.org.au

On the same day, club members will be at the Westlake’s Amateur Radio Club car boot sale on Saturday the 27th March with many items available for purchase.

The Club’s Thursday evening net this week was hosted by Adrian VK2ABS with a weekly catch up from club members and their adventures. Thank you to Adrian for stepping up and running the net.

Adrian also hosted a Slow Scan Television net on the Friday Evening just gone, however, unfortunately there were no stations that checked in. Adrian is looking at re-visiting the structure and how often the net is run and would love to hear your feedback, please reach out to the club directly with suggestions or feedback at ccarc@ccarc.org.au .

Bob VK2AOR and Dave VK2KFU continue with the clubs Morning Tea net during the weeks with check ins still coming in strong. A huge thanks go out to Bob and Dave for running the nets, it’s greatly appreciated.

Both nets are held on the VK2RAG 2 Metre repeater, 146.725Mhz with a 91.5hz sub audible tone. Echolink & IRLP services have now been restored after a short period of down time.

The club’s IT infrastructure upgrade was completed last weekend and can report back that the operation was a success with some services migrated over to the 44net which is a dedicated IP service for radio amateurs. If you haven’t heard of this, we recommend you check it out. The club wishes to thank those involved with the upgrade; it is well appreciated.

Club Members Jaye VK2FOMG and Brad VK2NMZ will be activating special event callsign VI100AF & VK100AF over the coming weeks via VT8 and SSB contacts, so keep an ear out!

The club looking for more operators to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the RAAF. This is a great opportunity to get out on the bands and share in celebrating this momentous occasion portable or otherwise. If club members are interested in participating, please reach out to the club directly.
