THE PERIODIC NEWSLETTER OF THE CENTRAL COAST AMATEUR RADIO CLUB
ISSUE No 12-24 24th. June 2012
In this Issue:
- Changes to VK2RAG 6m repeater.
- “Ham Radio for Dummies” available as a PDF download.
- Smoke Signals article on “strange” antenna.
1. Changes to VK2RAG 6m repeater.
The 6 metre repeater has a new Alinco DR-06T receiver, and to reduce phantom keyups, it is set to only respond to 91.5 Hz CTCSS tones as the 123 Hz decoder has been removed.
So from now on the repeater will only respond to a carrier with 91.5 Hz tone.
Graham VK2GRA and I have worked out a modification to the Midland radios for 123 and 91.5 Hz tone.
Regards
Don VK2ZCZ.
2. “Ham Radio for Dummies” available as PDF file for download.
The famous “Dummies” book format has been to used to create a book about Amateur Radio, although based on Ham Radio in the US, it is never the less a useful reference. As always, be careful when downloading any files from the Internet and run the file though your virus checker. This file seems OK to me on my (OS/2) system but please check before opening on a windows system.
Here’s the link as found by Google.
3. Smoke Signals article on “strange” antenna.
One of the articles submitted for the upcoming Smoke Signals magazine is one from Arthur VK2FHAY and having seen a preview I can tell you it will stir up some discussion!
Want to know more?
I’m not saying, you’ll have to await the release of Smoke Signals.
