1. BUSY DAY at the CCARC club rooms SATURDAY 17th. August
BAR-B-QUE
12 Noon sees a special BBQ with food paid for by the club (donations still accepted) steak sandwiches being a special treat tomorrow!
AGM
1pm sees the start of the CCARC Annual General Meeting – this is the most important club meeting of the year and all members who are able should make the effort to attend.
Remembrance Day Contest.
1pm also sees the start of VK2AFYs entry into this years RD contest. Doug VK2MDC is organising it and asks that anyone wishing to operate bring their own headphones or headset as sharing headphones has health risks. The plan is for VK2AFY to operate for 24 hours, so anyone able to help (especially in the overnight / early morning sections) should contact Doug ASAP. The intention is to run HF, 6m and VHF stations when possible. As contacts via repeaters are not allowed in contests please keep a listen out for VK2AFY on the FM Simplex calling frequency – 146.500 MHz.
2. Club membership renewal overdue?
If you haven’t renewed your membership yet, you will not be able to stand for committee tomorrow as those applications closed on Tuesday evening. If you wish to vote at the AGM, and you’re quick, you can still renew (or join new) your club membership before midday tomorrow with the secretary.
Even if you are not concerned about voting, it is good to support your local radio club and the repeater and other services that they provide for all radio amateurs. To do this you can pay your CCARC Membership Fee for the Year Ending 30 June 2014 ($35.00), by any of the following:-
- Cash Payments to any member of the Executive Committee, who will issue a receipt.
- Cheque Payments by Post: Hon. Secretary, CCARC, P.O. Box 238, Gosford, NSW2250
- Electronic Funds Transfer to: Commonwealth Bank Account:. CCARC, BSB: 062544, Account: 00901201 (Please use your call sign or family name to identify the EFT).
3. Bargain Andriod tablet from ALDI next Wednesday 21st. August.
While not 100% radio related, there are more and more amateur radio related programs becoming available for Andriod phones and tablets and we all use the web to search for information on the web and use it to buy components or even rigs these days. A tablet is a very convenient device for these tasks and with prices dropping, this latest offering from ALDI is very attractive both on price and by the fact that it also has 3G cellphone communications built in. Many tablets only have WiFi meaning if you are away from home you are searching for somewhere with WiFi before you can attach to the web. Having 3G built in means everywhere you have cell phone coverage you have Internet access.
As always with ALDI electronics, there will be a limited number of these devices in their stores and will be sold out if you are not there in the queue on Wednesday morning.
