Portable and Picnic Day
The CCARC is holding a “Portable and Picnic” day held at Terrigal Haven on October 15 between 11:30am and 4:00pm. Members, family, and visiting or prospective hams are more than welcome.
We will gather at Terrigal Haven; on the hill behind the boat ramp near the shops. There is concrete path access.
This is an excellent RF site with take-off over salt water, which should result in great DX. 40m and higher have definitely been picking up. 20m has been strong in the afternoons into Europe, ZL and USA.
Facilities: Cafe, Fish & Chip shop, Public Toilets and parking close by. Lots of cafes in Terrigal township on your way in.
Cost: Free – No Booking Needed – Just turn up
Bad Weather? If bad weather on the day forces cancellation announcements will be made on VK2RAG 2 meter repeater on the hour and half hour.
What To Bring
– A camping/picnic chair or rug to sit on is recommended as is sun protection and water.
-PICNIC – BYO everything for a picnic or get your food at the nearby shops.
-RADIO – BYO radio gear for portable operations – HF incl antenna and or HT for VHF / UHF up / down the coast.
– Bonus – you might see a migrating whale.
